About the role
Uniformed Security Officers protect buildings, grounds, assets, employees, students, and visitors from criminal activity, accidents, fires, and natural disasters. They also provide outstanding customer service to clients, customers, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service to clients, customers, and co-workers.
- Guard posts, including building lobbies or reception areas.
- Conduct hourly foot patrols of interior and exterior areas to check entrances, doors, windows, and vents for security (includes climbing stairs).
- Monitor surroundings using closed-circuit television.
- Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
- Check employee and vendor identifications.
- Look for suspicious persons, packages, and activities.
- Provide first aid or other medical treatment in emergencies, if needed.
- Operate x-ray and/or metal detection equipment where deployed.
- Follow site-specific post guidelines.
- Report hazardous conditions and items needing repair (e.g., lighting, plumbing, wet floors).
- Document daily activities and incident reports.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
- Must pass a drug screening at hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana; federal compliance required).
- No felony convictions.
- No misdemeanor convictions related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information/evidence, controlled substances (including marijuana), or two or more alcohol-related offenses.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk (including stairs) for 8–12 hours at a time.
- Ability to see clearly at least 20 feet away (with glasses/contacts if needed).
- Ability to hear conversations in loud environments (in-person or via radio).
- Ability to use a smartphone or computer for emails and online training.
- Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Professionalism and excellent customer service skills.
- Strong personal integrity and a positive attitude.
- Must complete required trainings on time and adhere to all client and company policies.
