Job Summary
You will help the healthcare enterprise remain a safe place by maintaining a safe and secure environment for medical staff/employees, patients, and visitors through patrolling the premises, visitor management, and observing and reporting activities and incidents.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by patrolling the premises and responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner to incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, opening doors, and responding to emergency codes.
- Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle, monitor security alarms, and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed.
- Report unsafe acts or conditions and investigate security breaches, including logging all activities in a daily log and writing incident reports.
- Support CommonSpirit Health's strategic plan and the goals and direction of quality improvement/process improvement activities.
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for medical staff, employees, patients, and visitors within the hospital or healthcare setting.
- Protect staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner to incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, opening doors, and responding to emergency codes.
- Respond to security emergencies within the hospital or other healthcare settings.
- Preserve order and act to enforce regulations when assistance is requested by medical staff and employees.
- Support CommonSpirit Health's strategic plan and the goals and direction of quality improvement/process improvement activities.
Requirements
- Required High School Diploma or GED
- Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service; or one (1) year experience as a security officer
- American Heart Association-issued Basic Life Support (BLS) card within 90 days of hire
Preferred
- Arizona State Driver's License with satisfactory DMV report
- International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officer
- Basic Health Care Security Officer (BSO)
