Security Officer

About the Role

As our Security Officer, you will help the healthcare enterprise remain a safe place. You will maintain a safe and secure environment for medical staff, employees, patients, and visitors by patrolling the premises, managing visitors, observing and reporting activities, and responding to incidents at an assigned site. The Security Officer preserves order and enforces regulations when assistance is requested by medical staff and employees, and responds rapidly to security emergencies within the hospital or other healthcare settings.

Every day, you will ensure a safe and secure environment through proactive security measures, strong interpersonal skills, keen observation, and adherence to protocols.

Responsibilities

• Protect staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely manner, including incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, and emergency codes.
• Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle, monitor security alarms, and dispatch officers promptly to needed locations.
• Report unsafe acts or conditions and investigate security breaches.
• Conduct follow-up investigations and write incident reports.
• Log all activities in a daily log to accurately record events and complete clear, concise, and legible reports in a timely manner.
• Use appropriate emergency and radio codes when dispatching security officers and ensure dispatches are directed to the correct location on the hospital campus.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, supplies, and reports HIPAA breaches if witnessed.
• Open doors and respond to emergency codes as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Six (6) months of experience as a security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service; or one (1) year of experience as a security officer.
• American Heart Association-issued Basic Life Support (BLS) card within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Arizona State Driver’s License with a satisfactory DMV report.
• International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officer.
• Basic Health Care Security Officer (BSO) certification.

Pay

$18.00 - $24.41 per hour.
