SECURITY OFFICER
About the role
The Fresno County Department of General Services is seeking a Security Officer to join their team. The ideal candidate will patrol buildings and grounds to ensure security and fire protection, secure facilities to prevent unauthorized entry, enforce security rules and regulations, and report illegal security breaches and behavior.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- Willingness to work overtime, if necessary, and shifts as assigned, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid Class “C” driver’s license, or equivalent
- Ability to obtain a Security Guard card issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS), within one (1) year from the date of hire or be rejected during the probationary period
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Valid Security Guard card issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS), within one (1) year from the date of hire or be rejected during the probationary period
- Must obtain and maintain FBI and DOJ clearance as a condition of employment
- May be required to obtain and maintain California Department of Social Services Guardian clearance as a condition of employment
Skills
Keen observation skills, ability to adapt to a variety of situations requiring sound judgement, and exceptional interpersonal skills are desired.

Selection Process
Successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur. Tentative exam dates: August 11-12, 2026. Tentative interview dates: August 27-28, 2026. The eligible list may be extended up to 12 months and used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions.
