Security Officer

About the Role

As our Security Officer, you will maintain the highest level of safety and security by patrolling assigned areas, diligently deterring, detecting, and investigating suspicious activity or crime. You will monitor electronic surveillance equipment and hospital emergency systems, dispatch appropriate personnel via radio, and actively patrol to protect individuals and property while embodying our core values and supporting strategic quality improvement.

Works independently with little or no supervision. Greets, directs, and communicates with patients and visitors as they enter Mercy Medical Center for services. Interacts with all Mercy departments to assist patients and customers, providing information, directions, and general guidance regarding hospital rules and regulations.

Responds to emergency situations involving combative or violent individuals endangering themselves or others. Evaluates situations and uses de-escalation skills to resolve conflicts.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED (required upon hire).
• Unarmed Professional certification (required within 30 days of hire).
• Valid Driver’s License (required upon hire).
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification (required within 30 days of hire).
• First Aid certification (required within 30 days of hire).

Qualifications

• College-level coursework in professionally related fields (preferred).
• One year of experience in law enforcement or as a security officer (preferred).
• Healthcare security experience (preferred).

Pay

$20.86 - $29.46 per hour.
