Security Officer
About the Role
As our Security Officer, you will perform essential security duties under general supervision, helping to provide a safe and secure hospital environment for patients, employees, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Lock/unlock doors and assist in the Emergency Department.
- Remain alert for fire/safety hazards and control access to the facility.
- Respond to all emergency codes and help enforce hospital policies in accordance with established procedures.
- Protect staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance, including incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes, or emergency codes.
- Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to needed locations.
- Report unsafe acts or conditions and investigate security breaches.
- Conduct investigations and write incident reports, ensuring all activities are logged and reports are accurate, clear, concise, legible, and submitted in a timely manner.
- Report HIPAA breaches if witnessed and all unsafe conditions or work hazards.
- Use common sense, adhere to patient/visitor identification policies, and employ tools and techniques to minimize losses due to breaches of physical premises security.
- Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers and know the hospital campus to ensure correct dispatch locations.
- Participate in disaster drills and understand your role in emergency situations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a healthcare setting, law enforcement, or military service; or one (1) year experience as a security officer.
- SECURITY:CA (Guard Card).
- BLS-CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
- Preferred: International Association of Healthcare Security Services (IAHSS) Basic course within 90 days of employment.
- If required to operate a motor vehicle (e.g., company vehicle/golf cart), AUTO:CA and DRVDMV within 30 days.

Pay
$19.13 - $27.43 per hour
