Security Officer

Job Summary

The Security Officer ensures the safety of the healthcare enterprise by responding to emergencies, documenting incidents, observing activities, enforcing regulations, and supporting quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Respond rapidly to security emergencies within the hospital or other healthcare settings while maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Document all incidents and requests for assistance within the hospital reporting platform.
• Observe and report activities and incidents at an assigned site.
• Preserve order and act to enforce regulations and policies when requested by medical staff/employees.
• Support CommonSpirit Health’s strategic plan and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcare setting or Law enforcement/military service; or One (1) year experience as a security officer.
• BLS-CPR from American Heart Association within 90 days.
• International Association of Healthcare Security Services (IAHSS) Basic course within 90 days of employment.
• Maintain all other required training/certifications thereafter while employed by CommonSpirit Health.
• Able to speak English, communicate clearly orally and in writing.
• Must be able to exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly.

Job Requirements

• Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcare setting or Law enforcement/military service; or One (1) year experience as a security officer.
• Licenses/Certifications: BLS-CPR from American Heart Association within 90 days. International Association of Healthcare Security Services (IAHSS) Basic course within 90 days of employment.
• Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Familiar with duties and responsibilities of being a security officer. Able to properly use assigned equipment and follow established policies and procedures. Complete ICS 100HCb, 200b, & 700a training courses within 90 days of hire. Maintain all other required training/certifications thereafter while employed by CommonSpirit Health.
