Job Summary
The Security Officer ensures the safety of the healthcare enterprise by responding to emergencies, documenting incidents, observing activities, enforcing regulations, and supporting quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Respond rapidly to security emergencies within the hospital or other healthcare settings while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Document all incidents and requests for assistance within the hospital reporting platform.
- Observe and report activities and incidents at an assigned site.
- Preserve order and act to enforce regulations and policies when requested by medical staff/employees.
- Support CommonSpirit Health’s strategic plan and quality improvement activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcare setting or Law enforcement/military service; or One (1) year experience as a security officer.
- BLS-CPR from American Heart Association within 90 days.
- International Association of Healthcare Security Services (IAHSS) Basic course within 90 days of employment.
- Maintain all other required training/certifications thereafter while employed by CommonSpirit Health.
- Able to speak English, communicate clearly orally and in writing.
- Must be able to exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly.
Job Requirements
- Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcare setting or Law enforcement/military service; or One (1) year experience as a security officer.
- Licenses/Certifications: BLS-CPR from American Heart Association within 90 days. International Association of Healthcare Security Services (IAHSS) Basic course within 90 days of employment.
- Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Familiar with duties and responsibilities of being a security officer. Able to properly use assigned equipment and follow established policies and procedures. Complete ICS 100HCb, 200b, & 700a training courses within 90 days of hire. Maintain all other required training/certifications thereafter while employed by CommonSpirit Health.
