Security Officer
Job Description
Performs security duties at assigned County buildings and grounds. The duties include patrolling the interior and exterior; monitors security cameras; locks and unlocks access doors; assists public by answering inquiries and providing directions; responds to incidents and provides assistance, including medical assistance, as needed; responds to Commissioners', elected officials', County employees' and citizens' questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner; communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate co-workers to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities. Maintains strict confidentiality in all cases; assists other department and County employees as needed or requested.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certification or ability to obtain upon hire
- Prior security or law enforcement experience is preferred but not required
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position may be considered
- Must successfully pass background investigation relevant to the position, including fingerprints and remain in good standing for the duration of employment with the County
Physical Demands & Work Environment
While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to keyboard or type and operate security camera controls, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this classification include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
