Security Officer
About the Role
As our Security Officer, you will maintain the highest level of safety and security by patrolling assigned areas, diligently deterring, detecting, and investigating suspicious activity or crime. You will monitor electronic surveillance equipment and hospital emergency systems, dispatch appropriate personnel via radio, and actively patrol to protect individuals and property while embodying our core values and supporting strategic quality improvement.
Responsibilities
- Protect staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance, including incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes in progress, emergency codes, and requests for opening doors.
- Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to needed locations.
- Report unsafe acts or conditions and ensure all activities are logged.
- Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies, including radios and hospital codes.
- Report and investigate HIPAA breaches and security incidents; write clear, concise, and timely incident reports.
- Use appropriate emergency and radio codes for dispatching security officers, ensuring accurate location identification.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a healthcare setting upon hire, or one (1) year experience as a security officer.
- Valid Nebraska Driver’s License upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification within 90 days of hire.
Pay
$18.06 - $25.51 per hour.
