The Security Officer is responsible for protecting company assets and ensuring a safe and secure environment for all guests and employees. This role provides assistance, conducts patrols, responds to incidents, and enforces company policies while maintaining professionalism and exceptional service.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and well-being of guests and fellow employees
- Provide directions, escorts, and assistance to guests as needed
- Assist civil and law enforcement authorities, including providing testimony in court or administrative hearings
- Perform chip fills, jackpot verifications, and money escorts
- Provide first aid and CPR when necessary
- Patrol all areas of the property to identify safety hazards and security concerns
- Interview, investigate, and document incidents in accordance with company policy
- Complete detailed lost and found reports and incident descriptions
- Enforce all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain attendance standards and adhere to departmental and company guidelines
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Two years of experience in a role with direct guest contact required
- Preferred: two years of police, military, or casino security experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of basic computer programs
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Virginia Gaming License
- Must be able to work any shift, including weekends and holidays
- Must present a well-groomed, professional appearance
- Must complete eight (8) hours of ASP (baton) training
- Ability to prepare effective written reports
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required for operating company vehicles
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in temperatures ranging from 10°F to 115°F
- Ability to physically restrain individuals when necessary
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in crisis or stressful situations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to stoop, bend, jump, twist, crouch, grip, and maneuver quickly on various surfaces
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs and push/pull up to 150 lbs
- Ability to tolerate secondhand smoke
