Security Officer

Summary

Reports to the Security Manager and is responsible for monitoring restricted parking areas, patrolling assigned areas, and reporting unusual or suspicious activities. Protects Hospital buildings, assets, and premises as assigned and ensures a safe environment for patients, employees, and visitors.

Responsibilities

Is aware of all building locations and parking areas, reports unsafe conditions, and patrols assigned areas to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders. Monitors visitors, confronts unauthorized persons, reports security and safety violations, and secures offices and facilities. Assists employees with minor vehicle issues, escorts visitors, and provides escort services. Responds to “Codes” and performs other duties as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

- Completion of high school or equivalent. - Basic knowledge of interpersonal skills, physical abilities, and driving requirements. - Experience in security techniques or hospital security, police, emergency medical, or customer service. - Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification (CPI) within 90 days of employment. - Customer Service Training within 60 days of employment.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Works in various hospital environments including offices, patient care areas, parking lots, buildings, and control rooms. Must be able to stand for long periods, run up stairs, carry weights over 50 lbs., and remain alert while driving.
