About the role
This position is responsible for promoting a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees by patrolling parking lots, protecting physical assets, responding to all security issues and maintaining good working relationships with local law enforcement agencies and the Emergency Department. Officers will need to keep an open line of communication with the Emergency Department staff. Emergency Department Security Officer(s) will serve as the law enforcement liaison.
Responsibilities
- Patrol parking lots and protect physical assets
- Respond to all security issues
- Maintain good working relationships with local law enforcement agencies and the Emergency Department staff
- Serve as the law enforcement liaison
- Ability to lift/move/carry objects or persons
- Ability to restrain combative patients
- Escort incarcerated patients and/or assist law enforcement personnel to various hospital areas to maintain hospital policy
- Attend daily Emergency Department huddles (Emergency Department officers only)
- Function quickly and calmly in emergency situations
Qualifications
Required
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Obtain Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 30 days of hire
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in order to work well as a team and independently
Preferred
- Typing and computer skills
- Knowledge of security functions obtained through education or work experience (i.e. military, law enforcement, fire department, other medical response positions)
- Previous crisis intervention training and experience
Certifications
- Valid driver's license
- CPR/BLS preferred
Pay
$18.52 - $26.86 based on relevant experience
