About The Role

The Security Officer in a health care and social assistance setting plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position involves monitoring premises to prevent theft, violence, or any unauthorized activities, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and legal regulations. The Security Officer acts as a first responder during emergencies, providing assistance and coordinating with emergency services as needed. They also support patient safety by assisting with patient mobility and responding to any incidents with professionalism and care. Ultimately, the role ensures that the hospital environment remains conducive to healing and service excellence through vigilant security practices and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol hospital grounds and facilities to monitor for suspicious activity and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, and security breaches.
  • Assist patients with mobility when necessary, including lifting and transferring patients safely in accordance with hospital guidelines.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate written reports of daily activities, incidents, and any security breaches.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with hospital staff, patients, and visitors to provide information and resolve conflicts.
  • Stand for extended periods while maintaining alertness and readiness to act in any situation.
  • Collaborate with hospital administration and emergency services to coordinate security measures and emergency responses.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a security role, preferably within a hospital or healthcare environment.
  • Basic knowledge of emergency response procedures and patient handling techniques.
  • Able to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting patients safely.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in security or emergency services training.
  • Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency with computer systems used for security monitoring and reporting.
  • Training in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
