About the role
The Security Officer position at Banner Health is a full-time opportunity working night shift. This role is located in Ogallala, Nebraska, near Lake McConaughy and West Wing Golf Club. The mission of the security team is to provide the highest level of security service to the entire Banner Health organization and the communities we serve.
Responsibilities
- Patrol the facilities and grounds to assist in maintaining a safer and more secure environment.
- Assist employees with security related matters, mediate disputes, conduct interviews, conduct searches, enforce parking regulations and traffic control.
- Serve as a security subject matter expert.
- Assist medical staff in restraining and handling troubled/combative patients.
- Ensure security policies are being followed.
- Patrol unoccupied areas and set the alarms when appropriate.
- Lock and unlock facility doors at prescribed times.
- Conduct money pick-ups from departments, log pick-ups and deliver the contents to the appropriate destination department.
- Release bodies from the morgue, ensuring that all paperwork is complete.
- Check alarms to ensure they are in proper working order.
- Escorts patients, visitors and employees when required for security purposes.
- Participate in security lead training designed for staff.
- Maintain an accurate log of all relevant security activities during each shift.
- Professionally testify in criminal court, state hearings and review boards when required.
- May assist in the maintenance and preservation of confidential health documents including scanning into electronic patient health information systems.
Requirements
- Maintain required security certifications.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.
- Ability to make accurate observations and exercise good independent judgment in a variety of situations (including emergencies).
- Ability to write comprehensive security reports.
- Successfully complete all required security departmental training, including department specific annual training and mandatory training as assigned.
- Successfully complete Banner Health Basic Officer Academy.
- Present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times and possess strong verbal communications skills.
- Qualify and maintain proficiency with assigned non-lethal weapons.
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to perform physical requirements of the position.
- Successfully complete physical skills testing.

- Capable of passing physical skills testing.

Schedule
- This is a full-time opportunity working night shift.
- Works 3 12-hour shifts 6 - 6 with Wednesday being a half day.
