Security Officer

About the role

This is an onsite role based at the ASC Building in Columbus, GA. The position requires adherence to a set working schedule and involves ensuring the safety and security of Aflac’s employees, assets, and premises.

Responsibilities

• Monitors entrance and exit of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises
• Warns persons of rule infractions or violations
• Answers alarms and investigates disturbances
• Circulates among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property
• Calls police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons
• Operates detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas
• Answers telephone to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during nonbusiness hours or when switchboard is closed
• Refers irregularities (e.g., equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences) to supervisor
• Assists with evacuations and leads employees, vendors, and guests to safety in emergency situations
• Observes, reports, and protects Aflac employees and assets
• Performs other duties as required

Requirements

• Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers
• Demonstrated knowledge of public security practices and procedures, and applicable safety laws and regulations
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and teamwork facilitation skills
• Successful completion of CPR/First Aid & AED certification every two years
• Successful completion of annual taser training, including Use of Force Training and taser familiarization
• Physical strength to lift up to 65 pounds and physical flexibility
• Strong attention span, ability to process information quickly and accurately
• Stress tolerance, emotional stability, impulse management, and emotional regulation
• Risk management skills and ability to assess, understand, and mitigate threats to Aflac, employees, vendors, and guests
• Strong experience with intelligence analysis and risk assessments
• Possession of a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and adherence to Aflac’s driving policy (including insurability by the company insurance carrier)

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Successful completion of the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO) Certified Protection Officer (CPO) correspondence course within 24 months of entering the role
• Successfully pass Federal Aviation Administration background check and possess AOA aviation badge
• Successful completion of annual Physical Fitness program exam
• 1+ year(s) of job-related experience in Security, Law Enforcement, or Military
• Possession of a valid state driver’s license and a good driving record, with the ability to maintain insurability with the company insurance carrier
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Travel requirement: ≤ 10%

Pay

The salary range for this job is $38,500 to $55,000. This range considers factors such as education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. Compensation decisions depend on individual circumstances, and the range does not include potential incentive pay or benefits.
