Security Officer Armed Perimeter Access

About the role

As an Armed Perimeter Access Security Officer in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as cultural institutions. You will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to deter security-related incidents, and support access control. This role involves providing exceptional customer service, clear communication, and responding to security-related concerns.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and community members by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, medical situations, and critical events in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel and/or emergency services as needed.
• Conduct regular and random armed patrols of interior spaces, exterior grounds, entry points, parking areas, and perimeter areas to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify credentials when required, and report unusual conditions or policy violations to site leadership and Allied Universal supervision.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports for incidents, patrol observations, and other security-related activities in accordance with site procedures.
• Participate in industry-specific security training programs.

Requirements

• At least one year of armed security-related, law enforcement, or military experience.
• Possess an armed guard card or license.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• At least 21 years of age for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Pay

$18.00 per hour.

• Monday: 2:00 PM - 9:30 PM
• Wednesday: 2:00 PM - 9:30 PM
• Thursday: 6:30 AM - 2:00 PM
• Friday: 6:30 AM - 2:00 PM
• Sunday: 3:30 PM - 9:30 PM
