About the role
As an Armed Security Officer supporting a government transit location in Birmingham, AL, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and respond professionally to evolving situations. You will provide exceptional customer service and clear communication while supporting a welcoming environment for riders, employees, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to passengers, visitors, employees, and/or contractors by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at a public transportation location.
- Conduct regular and random armed patrols of transit facilities, parking areas, vehicle staging areas, and surrounding perimeters to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
- Monitor access points and restricted areas, verify credentials when required, and report suspicious activity, hazards, and policy violations according to site procedures.
- Respond to incidents, disturbances, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, coordinating with supervisors and public emergency services as appropriate.
- Prepare accurate incident reports, maintain required documentation, and handle assigned equipment in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and Allied Universal policies.
Requirements
- Possess a concealed carry weapons permit.
- Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Handcuffing certification is preferred.
- An armed guard card or license is preferred.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
Pay
$18.05 / hour
Schedule
- Tuesday: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM
- Wednesday: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM
- Friday: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM
- Saturday: 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM
