This Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced position is a flexible, dependable option for individuals looking to supplement their income, gain hands-on experience, or work toward a full-time career with the industry leader. As a Security Officer Armed Enhanced Part Time Patrol Driver in Birmingham, AL, this role provides reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility to earn more by picking-up additional shifts when it works for you.
- Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
- Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick-up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours one week and full-time the next—it’s all up to you.
This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week, always with the option to scale back when needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, access control requirements, and emergency response activities at a utility operations location.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, unauthorized access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established post orders and escalation protocols.
- Conduct regular and random armed patrols of facilities, grounds, perimeter areas, access points, and utility infrastructure to help deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
- Monitor and report security-related conditions involving gates, fencing, lighting, vehicles, equipment, and restricted areas, documenting observations in accordance with site procedures.
- Maintain professional communication with site personnel, visitors, contractors, and public service agencies while following applicable armed officer policies and procedures.
Requirements
- A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
- Possess a concealed carry weapons permit.
- Have at least one year of security-related experience.
- Possess an armed guard card or license.
- Have at least six months of armed security-related, law enforcement, or military experience.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
