Security Officer - Access Control

About the role
As a Security Officer Patrol in Bluefield, WV, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as Education. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a university location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, support access control, and respond to alarms as needed. You will provide exceptional customer service and communication to students, staff, and visitors while using technology to document activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or campus partners while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of campus buildings, residence areas, parking facilities, walkways, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual activity, hazards, or maintenance concerns.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, requests for assistance, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established campus protocols.
- Document observations, patrol activity, incidents, and interactions through clear and accurate reports, and communicate relevant information to supervisors and appropriate campus personnel.
- Help maintain a welcoming learning environment by providing directions, access support, and assistance with campus events or other security-related needs.
Requirements
- Access control and badge experience is preferred.
- Alarm panel experience is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
