Essential Functions
- Enforce Security Department and Hospital policies with professionalism and respect.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, including within two minutes for designated code responses.
- Use proper etiquette and tone when communicating over radio and telephone systems.
- Apply physical restraints as needed, adhering to department policies and procedures.
- Perform vehicle jump starts and flat tire refills using appropriate equipment upon request.
- Maintain composure during critical incidents and ensure protection of people and property.
- Inspect and report damage or malfunction of hospital property in a timely manner.
- Complete detailed incident reports accurately, providing timelines and all pertinent details.
- Troubleshoot basic problems with security software and equipment and use them effectively.
- Insure compliance with Florida Security “D” License and complete all required training and in-services.
- Foster teamwork and cooperation with other officers and hospital staff.
- Provide excellent customer service through courteous and professional interactions with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Provide observation of patients with responsibility to alert the nurse when intervention is needed and maintains confidentiality of patients per hospital policy.
Education and Work Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- License/Registration - Issued by Florida or Compact State.
- FL Driver's License.
- Certification: See required certs within 6 months- 12 months of hire date.
- Work Experience: One (1) year of security or law enforcement experience, preferably within a hospital setting.
- Must obtain Florida Security license (Class "D"), de-escalation certification (MOAB, CPI, etc.) and Basic Life Saving (CPR/AED) within six months of hire.
- Additionally, must obtain Basic International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification within one year of hire.
