About the role
The Security Officer provides for the safety and security of McMurry University students, faculty, staff, visitors, and property. This role ensures a safe campus environment by conducting patrols, responding to emergencies, enforcing campus regulations, and supporting the university community with professionalism and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Patrol University premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
- Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or actions needing police.
- Circulate among visitors, students, or employees to preserve order and protect property.
- Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours.
- Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary.
- Escort individuals to specified locations or to provide personal protection.
Requirements
- High School diploma.
- Some previous experience and knowledge of Public Safety and Security, Customer and Personal Service, and Federal, State, & Local laws.
- Must be familiar with computers and able to use two-way radios for communication across campus.
Schedule
Shift work: nights and weekends.
