Security Manager (West Coast)
Job Summary
The Security Manager will lead West Coast Security Operations, overseeing a hybrid security workforce and driving continuous improvement in security programs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead West Coast Security Operations, overseeing a hybrid security workforce consisting of internal team members and contracted providers.
Drive workforce planning, including recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, performance appraisals, and career development for direct reports.
Track security KPIs, metrics, and SLAs to measure program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
Own regional security strategy and roadmap, aligning security initiatives with business priorities and long-term growth.
Champion a team culture built on operational excellence, innovation, and mutual respect, ensuring every team member has the tools, training, and direction to succeed.
Identify gaps in current security posture and develop creative, scalable solutions that balance security rigor with operational efficiency and employee experience.
Lead the development and regular review of security policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures, ensuring they reflect current threats, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Partner with the Technical Security team to assess and enhance surveillance infrastructure, access control systems, video monitoring, and alarm systems, driving improvements based on performance data and evolving risk.
Manage security budgets, headcount, and strategic projects to deliver programs on time and within budget, optimizing resources through data-driven decision-making.
Respond to emergencies and critical security events as needed, including outside standard business hours.
Act as the senior security liaison between the Security organization and all business units, proactively informing leadership of security risks, incidents, and program status in real time.
Collaborate with HR, Legal, Facilities, and Operations to ensure security programs align with organizational priorities and compliance requirements.
Develop and deliver clear, executive-level communications, reports, and briefings that translate security data into actionable business insights.
Qualifications
5+ years of Corporate Security management experience, at least 10 years in the Security field in total.
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
Deep expertise in physical security disciplines: access control systems, CCTV and video management, intrusion detection, guest management, key control, and fire life-safety systems.
Proven track record of developing and implementing security policies, procedures, and training programs that meet or exceed industry standards.
Hands-on experience leading incident investigations, conducting security assessments, and managing complex security projects from concept through execution.
Strong command of security risk assessment methodologies and the ability to translate risk into practical, cost-effective mitigation strategies.
Influential, inspirational leader who can drive change, build consensus, and motivate teams through ambiguity and organizational growth.
Strategic thinker with the discipline to execute operationally; equally comfortable presenting to the C-suite and working alongside frontline security staff.
Data-driven decision-maker who uses metrics, audits, and threat intelligence to guide program development and continuous improvement.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities across multiple sites without losing attention to detail.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex security concepts for non-security audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional certifications preferred: ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP).
Experience preferred: Travel Safety, Crisis Management, Executive Protection and Business Continuity.
Physical Requirements
Bending and Twisting: Bending neck/waist, twisting neck/waist, and squatting.
Computer Use: Typing, mouse work, and sitting and looking at a computer potentially for long periods of time.
Exposure to Machinery: Exposure to machinery noise, which may include noise from forklifts, injection presses, or other machinery.
Hand Use: Power gripping when using low-precision, high-impact hand tools that require significant force, such as hammer drills and torque wrenches.
Hearing Requirements: Ability to hear alarms, signals, and verbal instructions.
Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 75+ pounds, with employee help or with proper equipment.
Sitting or Standing: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Temperature and Humidity: Occasional exposure to warehouse environments without heating or cooling with fluctuations in temperatures and humidity.
Walking: Ability to walk for long periods.
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $107,000 - $125,000. Actual compensation on this range varies based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including location, job level, experience, and skill set.
