Security Installation Technician

About the role

Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, seeks a skilled professional to install complex integrated security systems.

Responsibilities

• Install cabling, field equipment & control equipment enclosures in customer locations according to the national electric code, company and customer guidelines.
• Use electronic test equipment to troubleshoot complicated problems during installation.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manuals.
• Adjust equipment, repair or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation.
• Perform system checks for proper operation.
• Knowledge of computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets and databases; CCTV and access control systems; media storage.
• Analytical skills to plan, organize and prioritize work paying close attention to details.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
• Ability to isolate trouble to a customer network, where applicable.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Significant background (3+ years) in Digital & Analog Camera Systems.
• Significant background (3+ years) in Access Control Systems.
• Understanding of the function and design of Alarm Systems.
• Experience with IP addressable security devices (2+ years).
• Must be computer literate to include advanced TCP/IP networking skills.
• Must be able to operate a company truck with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred

• Associate Degree or 2-year technical school program graduate preferred.
• Industry-recognized apprentice training program may be substituted for the formal education requirement.
• Specialized training/ certification in the following categories:
• Access Control
• CCTV- Analog (at least 1 certification from Bosch, Pelco, American Dynamics or Cisco)
• CCTV- IP (at least 1 certification from Genetec or Indigo Vision)
• Visitor Management (experience in any of Honeywell Lobby Works, Stopware or Access Sentry preferred)

Additional Experience

• MCSE, CCNA, Surveillance Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems and Security Gate Operators.

HIRING SALARY RANGE

The hiring salary range is $26.06 – $39.04 per hour, based on the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. A competitive bonus plan and comprehensive benefits package are included.
