About the role
The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all residents, visitors, staff, and protecting Community property. This part-time position works evenings and involves verifying the scheduled presence of all employees and third-party contractors on the grounds.
Responsibilities
- Makes scheduled rounds both inside and outside the buildings to maintain a secure environment for residents, their property, and company property.
- Responds to all fire alarms and apartment emergency calls.
- Develops and maintains a good working rapport with residents, family members, visitors, and personnel to ensure security procedures meet the needs of the facility.
- Assists with special security needs as they arise, involving employees, visitors, and other members of the community.
- Provides written reports of any community incident during the shift that the Director of Plant Operations and other administration may need to be aware of.
- Maintains entrances of the community for safe passage at all times.
- Sweeps, rakes, and shovels, keeping exit door walkways clear of debris and precipitation.
- Accomplishes all work in the order of priority set by the supervisor.
- Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
- Supports creating a culture where business decisions drive top-line revenue and occupancy.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent in training, education, and experience.
- Minimum one year of experience in security preferred.
- Experience in a senior living environment preferred.
- Must possess a current and valid driver’s license consistent with vehicle requirements and state laws.
- Must possess a personal driving record consistent with the requirements of the Driver Selection Policy.
- Doctor’s statement verifying freedom from communicable disease, if applicable to your state.
- Willingness to be available for any/all emergencies regarding the community.
- Thorough understanding of all building systems and their interdependence.
Qualifications
- Ability to speak, read, and comprehend the English language.
- Good communication skills (oral and written).
- Good inter-department communication and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products.
