About the Role
The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff. This role combines front-line security duties with emergency medical response, serving as a first responder for medical and facility emergencies while upholding The Arlington’s hospitality standards.
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome all residents, visitors, vendors, and contractors in a warm, professional, and hospitable manner.
- Verify, document, and monitor the presence of all third-party contractors, visitors, and vendors entering the community, ensuring proper access and direction.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to all individuals entering and leaving the premises.
- Respond promptly to fire alarms, emergency calls, and security incidents throughout the community.
- Conduct scheduled patrols and security rounds inside and outside the buildings to maintain safety and security.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with residents, family members, visitors, and team members to ensure security and emergency procedures meet community needs.
- Assist with special security needs involving employees, visitors, and residents as situations arise.
- Maintain entrances, exits, and walkways to ensure safe passage; remove snow and debris from exit areas as needed.
- Complete written incident and shift reports detailing security, safety, or medical events.
- Perform duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and priorities set by the supervisor.

Requirements
- Class D Security License (preferred).
- Ability to respond on short notice and work flexible schedules as needed.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform basic arithmetic.
- Exceptional hospitality mindset and customer service focus (required).
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training related to first response, emergency preparedness, and community safety.
Physical Requirements
- Light to moderate physical effort 90% of the time.
- May be exposed to the elements (heat, cold, rain, snow).
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk 90% of the workday.
- Ability to stoop and stretch occasionally.
- Must observe universal precautions.
