Security Guard - Flex Shift

About the role

All guards employed by Athens Services are responsible for the security of all property and materials within company-owned facilities. Security personnel must conduct themselves professionally at all times and report any individuals—employees or visitors—who do not adhere to company policies. The primary duty is to observe and report; guards should never place themselves in physical danger or engage in verbal confrontations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the assigned building or premise is safe and secure from contingencies and acts of violence.
• Observe all individuals entering the premise and monitor for intruders.
• Prevent unauthorized entry and restrict prohibited articles in designated areas.
• Maintain a log book with details of visitors, including names, purpose of visit, and entry/exit times.
• Conduct routine security checks inside and outside the building daily.
• Report suspicious activities to local police or management staff.
• Check offices to ensure all entrances, exits, lights, and electrical equipment are secured.
• Respond immediately to emergency alarms and notify the appropriate department (e.g., fire department).
• Document damages to the premise, assets, or unusual occurrences.
• Enforce company rules and regulations, warning violators of potential consequences.
• Direct vehicles within the premises and ensure their safety.
• In the event of a load fire, operate vehicles to dump the load in a safe, open area to prevent further property damage.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid Class C Driver’s License.
• Good communication skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Knowledge and ability to secure a premise.
• Honest, dedicated, and sincere.
• Polite and courteous demeanor.
• Ability to handle and resolve conflicts.
• Ability to act quickly in emergency situations.
• Ability to judge and detect potential threats and respond accordingly.
• Acceptable Driver Record.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Prior security experience.

Physical/Environmental Demands

Physical

• Continuous: Sitting, seeing, hearing, smelling, problem-solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, concentration, interpersonal skills, eye/hand coordination, typing, handling, and wrist motion.
• Occasional: Bending, reaching, stretching, standing, and walking.

Environmental

• Continuous exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, and noise.
• Occasional exposure to grease, oil, chemicals, and wet conditions.
• Work is indoors only; position is considered office-only.

Pay

$21.28 - $22.28 per hour

Schedule

• 5 days per week.
• Monday: 5:00 PM – 12:00 AM
• Tuesday: 8:00 PM – 5:00 AM
• Wednesday: 8:00 PM – 5:00 AM
• Thursday and Friday: OFF
• Saturday and Sunday: 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Coverage for holidays and shift swaps may be required for time off or vacations.
