Salary: $17.00 - $25.49 hourly ($35,350 - $53,024 annually). This position is classified as Pay Band C2 and is open for ongoing recruitment.
About the role
The incumbent is responsible for ensuring safety and security at the New Mexico Behavior Health Institute at Las Vegas (NMBHI), Community Based Services (CBS), and San Miguel/Mora Mental Health Services. This includes minimizing injury risks to clients, staff, and visitors, as well as providing security, loss control, and protection for the facilities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct searches of new admissions, clients, and visitors to prevent contraband from entering NMBHI.
- Check all buildings to ensure they are properly secured (windows closed, doors locked, lights off during non-working hours).
- Assist staff members with combative clients using Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) techniques.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with fire alarm systems.
- Experience checking fire extinguishers.
- Familiarity with ten-codes.
Requirements
- No prior experience or training required.
- Must possess and maintain a New Mexico Driver’s License.
- Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to potential hazards, including trespassers, vandals, and unruly clients.
- May require extended periods of walking and standing.
- The NMBHI campus is 100% tobacco-free and e-cigarette-free; no such products are permitted on campus.
Pay
$17.00 - $25.49 hourly ($35,350 - $53,024 annually).
