Security Guard - Campus (f/t)

About the role

The Security Guard / Public Safety Ambassadors protect and guard University property (both clinical and nonclinical); maintain order among the public and the UCSF community; monitor and control entry to restricted areas; inspect areas to prevent fires, accidents, and other hazards; direct visitors and answer questions concerning building and/or exhibit layouts.

The role requires the ability to push and pull up to 25 pounds; stand and walk for extended periods; carry and lift 21–30 pounds; and run short distances.

Effective 10/17/23: A $500 new-hire sign-on bonus is offered to external candidates who have not been employed by a UC in the last 12 months.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• General PC knowledge and demonstrated proficiency using MS Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Excellent customer service and effective problem-solving skills
• Ability to fluently speak, read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English
• Demonstrated ability to work calmly under stress in emergencies and sound judgment skills
• Demonstrated record of excellent attendance and reliability

Physical/health screening, fingerprinting, and background checks are required.

Preferred Qualifications

• One or more years of experience in the security field
• Military experience
