Security Guard
About the role
Security is responsible for ensuring the safety of clients and staff at Merakey facilities. Responsibilities include contacting emergency services, escorting vehicles, maintaining logs, and conducting fire drills.
Responsibilities
- Contact Police/Fire/Rescue Squad (via 911)
- Contact Nursing Supervisor/Charge Nurse (via push to talk)
- Contact Health Services (M-F, 8am to 4:30pm)
- Ensure Fire Rescue Squad is escorted to the scene of the emergency
- Notify unit nurse
- Complete incident report/log entries after Medical Personnel has taken over
- Review logbook at the beginning of each shift
- Direct and assist authorized visitors, family members, bus drivers, etc...
- Maintain daily logbook on all incidents, sick calls, etc.
- Dispense/retrieve keys, mobile phones and or gas cards as needed
- Monitor Siemens Alarm System
- Call monitoring company when the alarm system is bypassed and for testing
- Alert building of malfunction and place on fire watch
- Escort emergency vehicles to locations on grounds and assist as necessary
- Answer phones, relay pertinent information to various departments
- Contact Facility Supervisor of Emergency/Urgent Maintenance issues
- Document all calls and actions taken in the logbook
- Walk through all buildings periodically to check for safety, mechanical and security-related problems
- Patrol/tour interior and exterior of all Residential and Administrative buildings, and Parking Lot
- Transport clients and staff to work, hospitals, medical office and other areas
- Search grounds, buildings highways, area stores and malls for missing clients
- File Missing Persons report with Police Department
- Conduct Fire Drills at various times in buildings each month
- Issue/retrieve keys, access identification cards to employees as required
- Enforce parking and driving regulations and direct traffic
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver's license
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience in security preferred
Skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to handle emergencies
- Knowledge of fire safety procedures
- Computer literacy
