Security Guard - ADESA Minneapolis

About the role

ADESA, a Carvana owned company, operates over 50 locations across the US. We manage auto auctions, repair/reconditioning, auction remarketing, and serve as distribution centers. Our inventory includes hundreds of thousands of vehicles from various sources. We're looking for security guards who can protect our associates, customers, and assets.

Responsibilities

• Secure all gates and buildings and patrol the premises.
• Sound alarms and notify authorities in case of emergencies.
• Verify only authorized individuals enter the property.
• Provide facility directions to customers, vendors, and transporters.
• Check gate passes to ensure vehicles are authorized to exit property.
• Check departing vehicles to guard against theft of company property.
• Greet customers at the gate and provide prompt and courteous service.
• Resolve customer complaints in a friendly manner.
• De-escalate difficult situations to ensure we win with partners and collaborate.
• Use a handheld device to input vehicle information including VIN, miles, owner identification, vehicle options, repair orders, and other pertinent information.
• Verify the VIN number being entered matches the VIN number on the shipper's Bill of Lading.
• Watch and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and doors left unsecured.
• Maintain a current list of emergency and management telephone numbers.
• Maintain good operating condition of all equipment and facilities, including handheld devices and printers.
• Notify management of all breakdowns and maintenance needs.
• Maintain a professional appearance and orderly work environment.
• Practice and promote teamwork continuously.
• Set a good personal example of attitude and performance.
• Maintain a good flow of communication with all auction team members and leaders.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience within a customer service environment.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
• Ability to relate well with others and establish strong working relationships.
• Ability to handle conflict situations in a positive way.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to organize, plan, and execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Requires computer data entry skills.
• Must adhere to regular and predictable attendance.
• Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license meeting the requirements.
• Able to safely drive a variety of make/model/sizes of vehicles.
• Requires standing for extended periods.
