Security Guard - 3rd Shift

About the Role

All guards employed by Athens Services are responsible for the security of all property and materials within company-owned facilities. Security personnel must conduct themselves professionally at all times and report any inappropriate behavior from employees or visitors. The primary duty is to observe and report; guards should never engage in physical danger or verbal confrontation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the assigned building/premise is safe and secure from contingencies and acts of violence.
• Observe all individuals entering the premise and monitor for intruders.
• Prevent unauthorized entry and restrict prohibited articles in restricted areas.
• Maintain a log book with visitor details, including names, purpose of visit, and entry/exit times.
• Conduct routine checks inside and outside the building daily.
• Report suspicious activities to local police or management staff.
• Verify that all offices, entrances, exits, lights, and electric equipment are secured at the end of the day.
• Respond to emergency alarms immediately and notify the appropriate department (e.g., fire department).
• Document damages to the premise or assets and unusual occurrences.
• Enforce rules and regulations, warning violators of potential consequences.
• Direct vehicles within the premises and ensure their safety.
• In case of a load fire, operate vehicles to dump loads in a safe area to prevent further property damage.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid Class C Driver’s License.
• Good communication skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Knowledge and ability to secure a premise.
• Honest, dedicated, and sincere.
• Polite and courteous.
• Ability to handle and resolve conflicts.
• Ability to act quickly in emergency situations.
• Ability to judge and detect possible threats and act accordingly.
• Acceptable Driver Record.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Prior security experience.

Physical/Environmental Demands

Physical:

• Sitting, seeing, hearing, and smelling continuously.
• Problem-solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, calculating, concentration, and interpersonal abilities continuously.
• Eye/hand coordination, fingering (typing), handling, and wrist motion continuously.
• Bending, reaching, stretching, standing, and walking occasionally.

Environmental:

• Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, and noise continuously.
• Exposure to grease, oil, chemicals, and wet conditions occasionally.
• Works inside only; position considered office-only.

Pay

$21.28 - $22.28 per hour

Schedule

• 6 days per week.
• Swing shift: Monday–Friday, 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM.
• Swing shift: Saturday–Sunday, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM.
• Holidays and shift coverage for time off/vacations as needed.
