Security Guard 1 (PT - Non-Perm)

About the role

The safety and security of the LCC Campus Community is paramount to maintaining a friendly and welcoming environment for all. Our Security Guards are an invaluable part of campus as they patrol the grounds 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Join the Security Team as a part-time Security Guard and help support campus safety!

Responsibilities

• Patrol buildings and grounds by foot and/or vehicle;
• Maintain surveillance of people and vehicle entry to grounds;
• Monitor vehicles in parking areas to prevent vandalism or theft;
• Respond to reports of stolen property, accidents, parking incidents and other disturbances;
• Enforce security rules and policies, and rules of behavior;
• Complete daily shift logs and security reports;
• Receive lost property found on campus, receive complaints, obtain statements, and conduct preliminary investigations;
• Control access to buildings;
• Direct visitors and others to parking areas and offices, provide information and assistance to individuals as necessary;
• Provide safety escorts for visitors, staff, students as requested;
• Check in on other personnel working alone on the grounds, assist staff and others with personal safety concerns;
• Promote goodwill with the community.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to assisting campus visitors, ensuring satisfaction and positive outcomes;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Demonstrated proficiency using computer software applications (MS Office Suite);
• A valid state issued driver's license.

Desirable Qualifications

• Previous experience performing First Responder duties (Fire/EMT, Law Enforcement, Paramedic, etc.);
• An associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education;
• A commitment to providing quality service to students, faculty, staff, and other campus visitors.
