About the role

AKIRA opened its first women's clothing boutique in Chicago in 2002 and has grown to 40+ stores nationwide plus a thriving eCommerce business. Known for Other‑Worldly Customer Service and Fanatical, Obsessive Attention to consumer needs, AKIRA’s culture centers on acting and thinking like an owner. The Security role protects store assets, supports smooth operations, requires a sharp eye, strong presence, flexible hard‑working attitude, maintaining a secure environment, deterring theft, and assisting with stock handling and store maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and survey the store floor to prevent both internal and external theft
• Maintain a professional, firm, and visible presence throughout the store
• Act quickly and confidently in situations that require confrontation or escalation
• Assist with stock processing and replenishment, including lifting up to 75+ lbs.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment
• Support general store maintenance and other operational tasks as needed
• Communicate effectively with store leadership and team members
• Demonstrate strong judgment and decision‑making with little to no direction
• Uphold AKIRA's standards and policies with consistency and integrity

Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift 75+ lbs.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 10–12 hour shifts, as needed)

• Proven reliability and strong work ethic
• Ability to lift and move 75+ lbs. consistently
• Assertive, confident, and able to handle confrontation with professionalism
• Calm and decisive under pressure
• Comfortable working independently and prioritizing multiple tasks
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail
• Experience in security, loss prevention, or a similar retail environment preferred
• Commitment to maintaining safety, order, and compliance at all times
• Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and peak periods
