About the Role

The Director of Security & Government Affairs is responsible for the overall administrative function and operations of the Company’s Security Department and serves as a liaison between the community, county, state, federal government, and the gaming properties.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Security and/or Surveillance Operations Management
  • Previous experience in government affairs/relations
  • Ability to make sound decisions under stressful situations and in short time frames
  • Basic math skills, computer literacy, and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and delegation abilities
  • High integrity and a commitment to serve and protect
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Nevada State Gaming Control Board Regulations, Security Department Policies and Procedures, and Mesquite Gaming Policies and Guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Operate the Security Department within budget guidelines
  • Provide communication and reports to the General Manager and CEO regarding the state of security on all properties
  • Recognize, report, and solve trends contrary to Company and Departmental Policies and Procedures
  • Coordinate with all departments and outside agencies to ensure a safe and secure environment for all team members
  • Hire, train, lead, develop, motivate, evaluate, coach, and discipline employees
  • Actively participate in meetings as directed by the CEO
  • Provide leadership on local, regional, and state-level political and regulatory issues affecting business operations
  • Develop strong working relationships with members of local regulatory boards and other political agencies
  • Manage the Company’s relationship with regulatory and political groups
  • Represent the Company in key trade associations, committees, and task forces
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management

  • Long periods of standing and walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces
  • Recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities
  • Recurring lifting of moderately heavy items (e.g., typewriters, record boxes)
  • Above-average agility and dexterity

Work Environment

  • Adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated work area
  • Everyday risks requiring normal safety precautions (e.g., safe work practices, fire regulations, traffic signals)
  • Potential exposure to dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress (e.g., outdoor weather, physical threats)
  • Exposure to secondhand smoke in a casino environment

Schedule

24/7 work environment with varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
