About the Role

Manages or assists the Manager of security with the administrative and operational functions for the Security Department at Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital, a new comprehensive acute care facility opening with 124 beds and expanding to 240 beds. The hospital offers a full scope of medical and surgical services including cardiovascular, general surgery, orthopedics, women's services with labor and delivery, and a future NICU.

Responsibilities

  • Provides primary or secondary management oversight for the security function of assigned hospitals
  • Works with the Corporate Manager and other Security managers and administers system-wide to develop and implement security initiatives
  • Manages or assists in the management of staff, assists in the development of policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and provides timely information to administrators
  • Meets with direct reporting staff to review performance and progress according to departmental goals and takes corrective action when necessary
  • Coordinates or assists their manager if assigned to one with coordinating all departmental process improvement activities including liaison with the Process Improvement Team
  • Ensures that employees assigned to them receive appropriate training and all training/licensure/certifications are properly documented
  • Assists their manager and/or administrator in preparing and implementing Department budget
  • Works with the Security Department leadership team corporate wide and hospital administration to develop strategies for crime prevention at each of the campuses
  • Manages various human resources functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
  • Assists in the attainment of financial goals for areas of responsibility
  • Establishes Critical Success Factors for areas of responsibility and consistently meets or exceeds the CSF standards
  • Stays informed of evolving technology related to healthcare security operations
  • Demonstrates and promotes Orlando Health Culture, Values, and Commitment to Excellence standards
  • Maximizes customer satisfaction
  • Must exhibit the highest degree of trust and integrity in all functions

Qualifications

  • Associate degree
  • Five (5) years Law Enforcement, U.S. Military Service, or Security experience, to include three (3) years supervisory experience
  • Valid Florida driver's license and must be insurable under the Orlando Health insurance carrier's requirements and standards
