About the role
The Security and Loss Prevention Specialist (SLP Specialist) is a key hourly position within Amazon Operations. The SLP Specialist leads the effort to efficiently and effectively protect people, product, and data in a designated building. The SLP Specialist reports to the Security and Loss Prevention Cluster Manager responsible for their geographical area, and aids them in supporting the operational team and cross-functional teams throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
- Conduct confidential investigations and prepare prompt written reports of theft, fraud, and critical incidents
- Contribute to the identification of vulnerabilities (e.g., loss, associate experience, process improvement, data protection, physical security infrastructure) and define appropriate mitigating actions while ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards
- Serve as department liaison and security/crisis management subject matter expert for site leadership, keeping them informed on key issues, strategies, and the department’s performance
- Develop strategies for alarm reduction and conduct system diagnostics for problematic devices by engaging and resolving issues with internal and external partners
- Domestic regional travel up to 25% of the time when applicable
- Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach; stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts; work in an environment where the noise level varies and can be loud; work in an environment that is subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments); continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs)
- Work 24/7 operations and must be able to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Qualifications
- High school or equivalent diploma
- 2+ years of Amazon (Blue Badge/FTE) experience, or 1+ year in security service, loss prevention, asset protection, investigations, law enforcement, or operations, or Loss Prevention Qualified Career Choice Graduate
- 1+ years of experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel, in a professional capacity
- Experience making and influencing informed decisions by leveraging data and metrics
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced and multi-tasking environment
- Ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, network, and influence across all business levels in a diverse workforce environment
- 1+ year of leadership or management and/or supply chain experience
- Investigative interviewing experience; Wicklander and Zulawski, Loss Prevention Qualified, Certified Protection Professional, Loss Prevention Certified, Certified Forensic Interviewer, Certified Threat Assessment Certification or other relevant certifications
- Experience in physical security systems maintenance/implementation and coordinating scope of work with security vendors
