About the role

The Information Technology Department supports administrative systems, academic technologies, and research computing. System reliability and campus operations are strengthened through IT initiatives. IT roles involve system support, infrastructure maintenance, and technical collaboration with campus units.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of enterprise firewalls and related security infrastructure
• Support firewall policy implementation and network segmentation initiatives
• Troubleshoot firewall-related incidents and operational issues
• Collaborate with networking and infrastructure teams on secure service delivery and connectivity changes
• Administer and support Azure Active Directory (Entra), Active Directory, and related identity management systems
• Aid in user account provisioning, de-provisioning, and access reviews
• Support role-based access control (RBAC) and least-privilege implementation efforts
• Maintain appropriate access documentation and audit records
• Participate in security incident response activities including investigation, containment, remediation, and documentation
• Investigate phishing campaigns and support email security operations
• Monitor security systems, alerts, and logs for suspicious or malicious activity
• Escalate complex incidents appropriately and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
• Affiliate with vulnerability scanning, tracking, remediation coordination, and reporting
• Support administration of Microsoft security technologies including Defender, Entra, and Sentinel
• Contribute to operational security reporting and dashboard development
• Coordinate with technical teams regarding remediation priorities and timelines
• Support compliance activities related to institutional and regulatory requirements including NIST, PCI, ITAR, NSPM-33, and CUI protections
• Participate in security assessments, audits, and remediation efforts
• Affiliate with documenting security processes, standards, and operational procedures
• Affiliate with export-controlled research security requirements and related operational safeguards

Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Preferred Qualifications: Degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
• Experience with Microsoft security technologies including Active Directory, Entra, Defender, and Sentinel
• Experience with vulnerability management and scanning tools such as Tenable, Nessus, Qualys, or Nmap
• Understanding of identity and access management concepts including RBAC, IAM, ACLs, and Zero Trust principles
• Experience with enterprise firewall administration and network security technologies including Palo Alto, Cisco, Fortinet, or similar platforms
• Understanding of network security concepts including network segmentation, routing, VPN technologies, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and secure architecture principles
• Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, and PCI
• Experience with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell or Python
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
• Ability to work with export-controlled data and sensitive institutional information

Pay

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $53,976-$76,024 annually.

Schedule

This position is onsite 8am-5pm M-F and may require afterhours, nights, weekends, and holiday work to support security incidents, maintenance events, project implementations, or other operational needs.
