About the role

The Security Agent position at UC San Diego is responsible for providing protective services for the UC San Diego Student Health and Well-Being Triton Building-B (THW-B) campus. The role involves patrolling the campus on foot to ensure the safety of life and property, managing disruptive individuals, controlling access to restricted areas, responding to emergencies, and maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the UC San Diego Student Health and Well-Being Triton Building-B campus on foot.
• Protect life and property by preventing and responding to potential threats.
• Manage disruptive individuals using the minimum amount of force necessary.
• Control access to restricted and security-sensitive areas.
• Respond to fire and security alarm activations.
• Assume scene command during emergency incidents.
• Identify and report safety hazards.
• Provide direction and assistance to UC San Diego Health patients, visitors, staff, and other building occupants.

Requirements

• California Guard Registration.
• Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets local policies/procedures.
• BART and IAHSS certified within six months of hire date.
• Two years of security or security-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to adhere to a dress code.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

• One to more years of experience in hospital security.

Special Conditions

• Subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
• Willingness to work various hours, weekends, and holidays.
• May be subject to interchangeable locations between UC San Diego La Jolla Medical and Student Health and Well-Being Campuses based on business needs.

Pay

Annual Full Pay Range: $52,492 - $65,271 (prorated if appointment percentage is less than 100%).
