Job Description

The Securities Services Operations Specialist I is responsible for transactional processing supporting Wealth Management accounts on the trust and/or bond accounting system. Duties include setting up and maintaining securities, transactional processing, trade execution and settlement, foreign currency exchange, valuations, and reconciliations. This position collaborates with various departments and external parties to ensure accurate client account reflections.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant completion of security transactions, daily processes, documentation, and agreements.
  • Use knowledge of securities processing and Wealth Management to define, visualize, measure, analyze, improve, report, and control processes to meet internal and external customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Resolve complex issues to minimize losses and support auditors, compliance, account officers, investment managers, WMS management, and support personnel.
  • Test and document reports necessary for day-to-day operations and strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with internal employees and external clients to resolve issues and provide education on processes or technology solutions.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with 1-4 years of directly related experience in a high volume securities operations environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced PC and operating software application skills.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and organizational skills; ability to handle large volumes of transactions and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Experience independently solving complex problems, identifying resources, and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication, and the ability to gain consensus among parties with conflicting interests.
  • A general understanding of trust and/or bond accounting knowledge is preferable.
  • Ability to improve efficiency, track complex activities, and refine methodologies.

Education & Experience

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance and 1-4 years of directly related experience in a high volume securities operations environment. Advanced PC and operating software application skills are required, along with excellent research, analytical, and organizational skills. The ability to handle large volumes of transactions and meet stringent deadlines is essential, as is experience independently solving complex problems and identifying appropriate resources. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication, are also required. A general understanding of trust and/or bond accounting knowledge is preferable, and the ability to improve efficiency, track complex activities, and refine methodologies is beneficial.
