Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyzes and processes applications for registration of securities salespersons and Investment Advisers representatives;
- Reviews the filings, financial statements, and background history of applicants;
- Utilizes the Central Registration Depository (CRD), the Investment Adviser depository, and other available sources to process, hold or deny registration;
- If there are any deficiencies, takes follow-up action as necessary;
- Processes fees associated with applications;
- Refers applications to enforcement if necessary.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of securities field and accounting and auditing techniques;
- Working knowledge of investigatory methods and techniques;
- Working knowledge of Illinois Securities Law, and rules and regulations regarding securities registration and securities dealer, salesperson and investment advisor registration;
- Ability to conduct studies of securities and to write reports on findings;
- Ability to analyze and audit financial statements;
- Ability to conduct investigations of suspected fraud and determine if there has been any violation of securities law;
- Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with employees and the public;
- Willingness to travel and possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license as required by individual positions within the class;
- Ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs.
Requirements
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college, with courses in accounting, finance, economics, business administration or business law and one (1) year of experience in securities analysis field, accounting and auditing, business administration or related investigatory field.
