Secure Systems Engineer 1 (Onsite)

About the role
Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, is seeking an entry-level Secure Systems Engineer to join its Embedded Product Cybersecurity Engineering team. This shared-services group supports the Avionics Strategic Business Unit on any product that carries customer security requirements or faces cyber threats due to connectivity or operational use. As a member of the team, you will embed with design and implementation teams as a subject-matter expert, helping to drive security excellence throughout the Secure System Development Life Cycle (SSDLC).
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute fuzzing and robustness tests to evaluate a product’s attack surface.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments of proposed and in-service systems.
- Embed with development teams to address product security concerns.
- Create threat models and data-flow diagrams to ensure proper isolation of data in motion and at rest.
- Assist in implementing mandatory access controls (MAC) through the development of SELinux policies.
- Support the creation of security documentation required for Airworthiness Certification.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field (obtained by start date).
- Experience with one or more of the following: C++, Python (may be obtained through coursework, projects, or on-the-job experience).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the Linux operating system.
Pay
The salary range for this role is $57,200 – $108,800 USD.
