About the role
Under the supervision of the Laboratory Director, Laboratory Manager, or Laboratory Supervisor, provides laboratory services to meet the needs of patients performed in accordance with accepted standards and practices. Directs, supervises, and coordinates functions and activities in any or all divisions of the Clinical Laboratory as designated. Performs a wide variety of routine and special laboratory procedures for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Responsible for receiving and processing specimens, performing and interpreting chemical test results on blood and body fluids. Responsible for quality control, new test validation, and troubleshooting as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise functions and activities in designated Clinical Laboratory divisions.
- Perform routine and special laboratory procedures for diagnostic and treatment purposes.
- Receive and process specimens, including blood and body fluids.
- Perform and interpret chemical test results.
- Maintain quality control, validate new tests, and troubleshoot issues.
- Adhere to State, Federal, and accrediting body regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology, or Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited college.
- Four years of technical experience with at least one year working in chemistry.
Preferred Qualifications
- National certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
- Previous supervisory or management experience.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or related science.
