Section Chief Primary Care Physician

About the role

The Section Chief of Primary Care in Goldsboro ensures the continuity of comprehensive healthcare for veteran patients. They oversee all medical, surgical, and ancillary services provided at the Goldsboro CBOC.

Responsibilities

• Directs daily operations to ensure smooth flow and transition of care for the patient.
• Direct supervision of clinical operations, including all Primary Care providers in support of assigned location in the Fayetteville NC VA Coastal Health Care System.
• Collaborates with Nursing, pharmacy, and specialty services and GPM leadership to ensure efficient and high-quality care.
• Works collaboratively with staff to provide services and programming in a variety of modalities, including virtual and in-person care.
• Ensures proficiency reports and mid-year reviews for all Goldsboro primary care providers.
• Maintains compliance with organizational goals, tour of duty, leave approvals, and training requirements.

Requirements

• Graduated from an accredited PA program.
• Broad knowledge of clinical medicine, basic medical sciences, clinical laboratory sciences, and operations.
• Ability to perform and teach all services required in the practice of Primary Care Medicine.
• Medical significance, interpretation, and correlation of patient testing data.
• Anatomic Pathology interpretation and explanation of results.
• Consultation provision and instruction of physicians.
• Comprehensive assessment, diagnostic work-up, and clinic intervention.
• Documentation of health appraisal information, clinical assessments, treatment decisions, and ongoing management.
• Order medications, diagnostic tests, and referrals as needed.
• Organize staff meetings, communicate both up and down, and ensure orientation to service rotation for program trainees.
• Conduct bi-annual reviews, OPPEs, FPPEs, promotions, disciplinary actions, grievances, training requirements, employee health requirements, and peer reviews.
• Monitor and address tour of duties, leave approvals, and clinic cancellations.

Qualifications

• Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the United States.
• Completed residency training in an accredited core specialty program.
• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Ability to perform all activities of the position without restriction.
