Direct Supervision of Flight Test Engineers
As a Section Chief - Flight Test Engineer, you will:
- Coach, mentor, and develop Flight Test Engineers
- Conduct ongoing performance management to foster a positive work environment
- Recruit, onboard, and train new team members
- Manage priority calls to support daily operations
- Develop and govern policies and procedures for safe and effective flight testing
- Drive continuous improvement through the development and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Develop tools to support flight operations (dispatch and safety)
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards
Daily Duties
Your responsibilities will include:
- Flying onboard experimental aircraft as a crewmember after appropriate training
- Operating all cabin experimental provisions and mission-specific test instrumentation during tests and recording results
- Communicating and coordinating with other disciplines for testing activities
- Documenting and reporting test results, including technical reviews and test plans
- Coordinating test aircraft and experimental equipment configurations
- Designing and developing safety-critical real-time data displays and derived parameters
- Using safety and risk mitigation procedures as per company policies and regulations
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
- A minimum of ten (10) years of aerospace experience (desired)
- Previous flying experience (pilot or other crew member) is a strong asset but not essential
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with various individuals, departments, and organizations
- Excellent leadership qualities and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage, and absorb large amounts of data and information
- Experience with IT tools and equipment, especially those used for automation and workload reduction
- The ability to obtain and maintain an FAA Class 3 Medical Certificate or equivalent
- Previous experience with Bombardier flight test procedures and requirements, along with familiarity with Part 25 (or equivalent) certification processes and procedures (asset)
- Must be able to participate in ITAR or CGP controlled programs (US Citizen or US Permanent Resident)
