About the role
Join our Farris team in Brecksville, OH as a Section 1 Steam, Senior Mechanical Engineer. You will design and analyze moderately complex mechanical systems, equipment and products, conduct feasibility studies and testing, direct support personnel, complete verification of prototypes, validate manufactured products, and produce technical documentation.
Responsibilities
- Ability to modify existing and create new products to meet customer needs and industry standards
- Assures design performance by developing test protocols and overseeing lab testing
- Designs and conducts experiments, collects data and interprets results, conducts analysis and writes analysis and test reports
- Draws conclusions and reconciles differences between predicted and actual results
- Assures documentation and analysis required to establish intellectual property rights
- Files innovation disclosures and patent applications
- Develops expertise in assigned product lines and assures all marketing materials are technically accurate in representing product capabilities and expected performance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Master's degree preferred
- 7-10 years of relevant experience
- Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Analysis (i.e. Minitab), Disciplined Problem Solving (DPS), 3-D CAD systems
- Computational modeling CFD/FEA, Voice of Customer (VOC)
- Ability to create and iterate designs, validate performance, and perform design reviews
- Capable of coordinating multiple project responsibilities
- Must be a team player, have effective communication skills, and the ability to manage projects
- Experience designing and testing pressure relief valves developed for high pressure steam applications
- Working knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes (Section I and VII) and National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspections (NBIC)
