MISTAFF is a collaborative effort of the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators, Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators, Michigan Association of School Boards, Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals, Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association, and Michigan School Public Relations Association.

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced educational leader to serve as the Principal of our high school. The successful candidate will provide visionary leadership, foster a positive school culture, and ensure high academic achievement for all students. This role requires a strong commitment to equity, excellence, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the school’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe school culture that supports student learning and staff professional growth.
  • Oversee curriculum, instruction, and assessment to ensure alignment with state standards and best practices.
  • Manage school operations, including budgeting, scheduling, and compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.
  • Engage families, community members, and stakeholders in supporting student success.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and develop school staff to maximize their effectiveness and professional growth.
  • Monitor and analyze student performance data to drive instructional decisions and improve outcomes.
  • Address disciplinary issues and ensure a safe, orderly, and respectful learning environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in education, educational leadership, or a related field (required).
  • Valid Michigan Administrator Certificate with a School Administrator endorsement (or eligibility to obtain one).
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a secondary setting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of administrative or leadership experience in a K-12 school.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.
