Secretary I, Echocardiograph Laboratory
About the role
The primary purpose of the Secretary I position is to provide high-level confidential secretarial services and assist with the administrative activities of the Echo Lab. Identifies opportunities for increased efficiency and cost effectiveness; enhances customer service and demonstrates appropriate psychosocial interventions based on age, developmental and health status.
Responsibilities
- Provide confidential and high-level administrative and secretarial support to the Echo Lab.
- Coordinate and support daily departmental administrative operations.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness within the department.
- Enhance customer service by delivering responsive, professional, and courteous support.
- Utilize appropriate psychosocial and communication techniques based on the patient's age, developmental stage, and health status.
- Maintain confidentiality while supporting departmental goals and operational needs.
- Contribute to a positive patient and customer experience through effective administrative assistance.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited program in Secretarial Studies required.
- Four (4) years of full-time secretarial experience required.
- An additional year of secretarial experience may be substituted in lieu of completing a Secretarial Studies program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access required.
- Knowledge of EPIC and LOGICIAN preferred, or the ability to successfully complete EPIC and LOGICIAN training.
- Experience with additional software applications required by the department preferred.
- Previous experience in a hospital clinical department required.
- Previous experience typing medical reports required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology required.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills required.
- College credits may be substituted for secretarial experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Up to sixty (60) college credits may be substituted for two (2) years of secretarial experience.

Pay
In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is:
- Probationary Rate TC/2000: $30.21
- Two (2) Year Rate: $31.63
