About the role
This position is a support position for the Engineering Department, supporting activities for the department's Officers and other Engineering managers.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the daily handling, coordinating, and monitoring of correspondence and activities for the Engineering Department.
- Use initiative, good judgment, and discretion at all times in performing non-routine administrative and secretarial duties, while maintaining an efficient work environment and recognizing the confidential nature of this position.
- Perform typing, scheduling, filing, and maintenance of all records.
- Organize and coordinate meetings, transcribe and distribute minutes.
- Provide secretarial support for the Engineering Department.
- Perform general clerical duties, including filing, preparing payroll timecards, handling mail, maintaining office files, and other clerical duties.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent (GED) approved by a State’s Department of Education or a recognized accredited organization.
- Must be able to type over 45 wpm.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, & Access).
- Must possess thorough knowledge of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and letter composition.
Wage Progression
Wage Progression for Employees Hired on or Before September 24, 2014:
- Step 1 - 70% Rate of Pay for the first 365 calendar days.
- Step 2 - 75% Rate of Pay for the second 365 calendar days.
- Step 3 - 80% Rate of Pay for the third 365 calendar days.
- Step 4 - 85% Rate of Pay for the fourth 365 calendar days.
- Step 5 - 90% Rate of Pay for the fifth 365 calendar days.
- After 1,825 calendar days, 100% Rate of Pay.
Other Information
- Pursuant to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the “Commission”).
- Actual salary offers may vary based on individual work experience.
- The annual salary range is subject to change and may be modified at the company’s discretion.
- Employees driving company vehicles must complete defensive driver training once every three years for current MTA drivers, or within 180 days of hire or transfer for an employee entering an authorized driving position.
- Current employees should be in their current position 12 months prior to starting a new role and must possess a satisfactory work history, including attendance and discipline records.
- A record of more than ten sick days without medical documentation in two of the last three years is considered unsatisfactory attendance.
