About the role
The State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is seeking a dedicated Secretary 1 to support the Southwest Connecticut Mental Health System (SWCMHS) in Stamford. In this essential role, you will serve as the welcoming face of our agency, manage front-desk operations, assist clients and visitors, and provide critical administrative support that keeps our teams functioning efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, visitors, and community partners at the agency’s reception area
- Support a trauma-informed, welcoming, and culturally responsive environment for all
- Carefully coordinate client flow, monitor the waiting room, and help ensure accreditation standards are upheld
- Aid staff across multiple teams through essential administrative tasks including data entry, filing, correspondence, printing reports, mail processing, and more
- Contribute to safety management by following agency emergency protocols and collaborating with security and leadership
- Help maintain clear and supportive communication through updated postings, flyers, and digital slide displays

Skills
- Proficient in office systems and procedures
- Strong knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Excellent business communications and math skills
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to schedule and prioritize office workflow
- Skilled in operating office equipment including computers, tablets, and electronic devices
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with digital calendars, schedules, contacts, and reminders via Microsoft Outlook
- Experience utilizing information tracking systems to generate reports for agency stakeholders

Pay
The pay for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Specific details will be provided during the interview process.
Schedule
The position is full-time (40 hours per week), Monday - Friday, with work hours of 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
