Secondary Reading Teacher
Position Summary/Responsibilities
Design and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons grounded in evidence-based literacy practices.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom where students are challenged and supported.
Monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, and implement targeted, evidence-based interventions.
Partner effectively with families, staff, and administration; maintain accurate progress reports (including RTIM/Frontline).
Support colleagues' understanding of reading and writing across the content areas.
Actively participate in department and PLC meetings.
Minimum Requirements
NYS Certification in Reading
Demonstrated commitment to district values and vision.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Dedication to ongoing professional learning in Adolescent Literacy and the Science of Reading.
Knowledge of the Science of Reading research, NYS Science of Reading Briefs, and interventions such as Orton-Gillingham, specifically for struggling adolescent readers.
Experience working with middle or high school students.

Salary
Per GTA Contract Bargaining Unit (click here for contracts): GTA Report Times: 7:15 am - 2:15 pm Daily Hours: 7 Work Year: 2026-2027
